Concept Generation

Conceptualisation at PDG can take on a number of forms depending on what you want from it.  We can generate ideas that make use of a technology or process in a new and exciting way, we can look to the future, visualising your product in twenty years time.  We can conceptualise your ideas, giving form to a function, generating interest in them.  We can evolve or revolutionise your current products.  We can be swayed or biased in innumerable directions by innumerable things.  All this adds up to exciting concepts that are innovative and not pigeonholed into one format and one style.

Within a range of concepts, we try to supply everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, creating a choice for you that includes conservative forms through to mould-breaking designs for the more adventurous.

We offer a range of visualisation methods to clearly convey our concepts to you and your company.  Sketches are the most commonly used method for early visualisation, others include 3D models, proof of principle models and where CAD is used particularly early in the process, renderings and rapid concept models, such as those made by z-corp or thermojet processes, give accurate reproductions of the CAD data at sensible cost.

Both your research and ours can be used to influence the design of your concepts and along with engineering considerations the level of influence can be varied depending on your requirements.

Once we’ve assessed all the concept designs, we take a selection of those that meet the specification best and present them to you.  A selection of 2-4 concepts are normally selected for development and signed off to okay moving to the next stage.
