Prototyping

Concept Models
Prototypes have a wide variety of uses and functions.  They can be visual, for assessing the aesthetics and ergonomics of a product, giving a feel for a product only.  At the next level, they can be used for checking fit and function, but generally with limitations in the performance of the materials used.  Proof of principle models show the function of a product, but generally without the constraints of aesthetics and size.  Finally, fully working prototypes can be made that represent a product’s aesthetics and function in full.

PDG offer a wide variety of prototyping techniques.  We have knowledge of all of the most common prototyping and rapid prototyping techniques available, allowing us to select the most appropriate method for your project, dependant on factors such as robustness, surface quality, quantity and cost.

Our in-house prototyping facilities include vacuum casting; a process by which we can produce plastic prototypes from polyurethane resins that closely match many commonly used plastics and rubbers, including polypropylene living hinges such as you might find on a video box.

The workshop team are highly skilled- this translates into the ability to produce anything from a simple hand made concept model to fully working prototypes to the highest standards.

From Z-corp to Stereolithography, visual model to fully working prototype, if you need something prototyping, talk to us.
